The Shaoxing Keqiao Economic Development Zone is a provincial economic development zone approved by Zhejiang provincial government in 1993. Situated in the prosperous Yangtze River delta area, it has been listed as one of the top 10 best provincial-level development zones for five consecutive years since 1998. It is also the first development zone that has been awarded the ISO14001 (environmental management system) certificate in Zhejiang Province.

Shaoxing County is one of China’s top ten counties in terms of economic power. Capital of Shaoxing County, Keqiao is surrounded by almost 60% of the county’s economic aggregate. A large group of light & textile industrial giants and the well-known China Light & Textile Industries City are located within the town. Since the founding of the Development Zone in 1993, the Kexi industrial zone and the Kedong high-tech zone have been planned and developed. Year 2003 saw the start of another two new zones, i.e. the Kexi clothing industrial zone and the Kebei clothing industrial city. The Keqiao Development Zone has a strong appeal to investors and is a hot spot of economic growth of Shaoxing County.
